Root CA Installation

Download Root CA certificate

1. Login to labcerts.net’s certUI
2. Go to CA Certificates -> List and open the “labcert.net root ca”
3. Click on Download PEM/Base64 or copy the PEM block from the site directly into a file of your choice

Install the Root CA certificate

There are a lot of ways to install root certificates in various operating systems and apps. Below list is not exhaustive and shows the required steps for common systems. If you need detailed instructions you might need to lookup in the documentation specific to your OS or application.

macOS (user’s context)

1. Open the Keychain Access app
2. Select the login keychain
3. Click on Certificates in the category list
4. Drag and drop the labcerts.net root ca into the Keychain window
5. Double-click the root certificate
6. Expand the Trust section
7. Change the When using this certificate to Always Trust
8. Close the window and confirm the choice

Debian and Debian-based Linux systems (system wide)

1. Copy the downloaded file to the ca certificates location

sudo cp labcert.net-root-ca-1.pem /usr/local/share/ca-certificates/

2. Update the root store with the following command

sudo update-ca-certificates

Windows (user’s context)

1. Run the following command in a PowerShell to import the root ca certificate

Import-Certificate -FilePath .\labcert.net-root-ca-1.crt -CertStoreLocation Cert:\CurrentUser\Root

2. Confirm the warning to import the certificate
